Samhain-Centre Culturel Irlandais-31102015

"I work in real estate"
“I work in real estate”

On the 31st of October 2015, there will be a special evening in the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris. It is Samhain, the beginning of winter for the Celts, when the ground opens and the spirits from the other side walk amongst the living. Come and celebrate Halloween with us. Safety in numbers. There will be performance, music with Underpressure and June McGrane, strange rituals, games and great storytelling by Eddie Lenihan, one of Ireland’s greatest seanchais. You can reserve your place here: Samhain at the CCI

I will explain the inspiration behind my Voices From The Other Side series.
In the run up and the preparation for the evening I am involved in Drawloween, where I will be publishing a Halloween drawing on my Instagram account everyday.

Come play with us for ever, and ever, and ever…

Whiteboard animation / Pen for Hire

Early this morning I finished this short animated film. Completely exhausted but very curious to see the results… One strange thing about this type of drawing is that it is ephemeral. You spend a long time getting the drawing right and then film it and then wipe it away. This is obvious, this is part of the  form. Despite knowing this I still would feel a slight regret wiping away a drawing that I had enjoyed doing.

It is a certain form of concentration to draw for 8 to 10 hours straight through. Artists often talk about the “zone” and I know I spend a lot of time there when I am doing creative work (writing, making music, drawing, showering, sleeping, dreaming). It was curious to notice the same thing happening here. I had no notion of the passing of time…

I was working with two people who work in audio visual and it was very enjoyable to work with them because we were immediately in the flow… When this work is finished I’ll post a link to it…
